Sokum Wan – Finalist in the Bathroom of the Year category

Sokum Wan
Finalist – Bathroom Designer of the Year

Sokum Wan’s brief was to totally modernise the existing bathroom in this south-west London home from a perfectly acceptable (if a little standard) room into something with a real ‘wow’ factor. The end result is about as far from average as it’s possible to get, with plenty of top-end features and a totally contemporary feel.

Sokum Wan with fellow finalist Wayne Shevlin and Sasha Charlton receive their certificatesStructurally, the existing chimney breast was removed to create an enlarged space characterised by clear symmetry for both product and surfaces. The bath and basin sit central to the window and by utilising bespoke mirror, stone and shower screen, the designer ensured that each element sat in line.

Wan combined grey tile with an uplifting purple mosaic, whilst the ‘wood’ flooring is in fact wood-effect tile (Ipeker by Kronos Woodker) – providing a suitable wet area flooring and allowing for the practical installation of underfloor heating.

Other features that complete the look include the Bisque Hot Hoop radiator, fibre-optic and LED light bezels on dimmers to create a unique ambience, and client-requested indulgences such as an integrated TV and a waterfall spout.
